As a youth I used to watch the television show MacGyver, an action-adventure series about a secret agent, similar to the hit series ’24,’ who worked for a fictitious government agency.
Played by Richard Dean Anderson, MacGyver’s main skill, besides his quick wit, was the way he found clever solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems. Every week he improvised and escaped a life-threatening situation by using something absurd like an air freshener to cut the ropes binding him to a chair or somehow resurrected a nonfunctional truck using a paper clip, ballpoint pen and rubber band.
Similarities Are Eerie
At EventIQ, we assist with graduations and corporate events such as Christmas parties and gala fundraisers. My team members and I have personally attended some of these events and it got me thinking about the similarities between what we do and the MacGyver character.
- We are a bright and resourceful team (granted MacGyver often acted alone, but he had a good team behind him)
- No matter how obscure the question or problem, we can handle it (but please don’t ask us to use a turkey baster to diffuse a bomb…)
- We have all appeared on a hit television show (just joking!)
The point is we are not dealing with life or death situations, but our team treats your issues similarly. We understand that clients are continually demanding more value for their dollar and teachers’ time is already stretched to the limit.
I’d like to think that we’ve made a difference in the lives of these customers, because event organizers utilized our team’s experience during the planning process of their event:
- Survey our staff for ideas on a theme for your event
- Ask questions about the marketing process
- Feel free to strategize with us as your event develops
Products to Lessen Your Load
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say we’ve raised the bar for event planning by offering products and services that can make you look like a winner while lessening your workload at the same time:
- Nametags
- Lanyards
- Create beautiful themed email campaigns for potential attendees. Pull detailed analytic reports and test different versions of your email to see which works best (Contract Central)
- Manage projects and get things done. Keep track of your projects, share messages and files, and track due dates and who’s responsible (PlanRight)
Success for MacGyver was using a paper clip wisely, but success for your event is much more complicated.
By allowing EventIQ to back you up, you will be the one looking like a hero.
